Infrastructure

Thursday, February 12, 2009

Coming up, this February. A tremendous change in the college infrastructure. Here’s how:

  1. Large-scale landscaping outside numerous blocks and departments. Notice the white bright lines at various places on the campus? … Yep!
  2. Tender to update 8 mbps internet connection to a colossal 32 mbps. Reliance (worth googling if you haven’t heard about it) has taken up the tender to install the high speed modems (isn’t that the thing that makes the internet go faster?)
  3. A brand new Basketball court right next to the existing one. About 3746 people believe that the present court is always occupied by a mere 11 people. So why not make a new one to accommodate those 3746 hungry for some baskets J
  4. Redesigning the Golden Jubilee website. A few final year students have been requested for completion of this task. We appreciate their willingness to work without getting paid. Respect!
  5. A swimming pool! … sooner than later. That’s all we have to say at the moment.
  6. Renovation of the NCH. The uni’s administration didn’t really fancy the initial design. So they sent it back to the designing team. Looking at the bright side, this will probably give us a reason to call it the ‘New’ Conference Hall all over again.
  7. The NITW website which in it’s present state is as sickening as listening to Amy Winehouse drunk on stage will now look terrific and rad. Grace a MIS, a global web-designing team that is willing to complete it’s maintenance on the website by the 15th of this month. We don’t expect them to work on 14th anyway.
  8. Renovation of the Training and Placement section. This mostly includes making it bigger and thus more spacious. The CMS’s rooms which is presently on the ground floor will be shifted upstairs, for the same reason. And also to save them from torturing their ears from the continuous noise of construction.
  9. Three brand new 3 GB RAM 160gb hard disk TFT screen desktop computers have been purchased to maintain the database of events like TZ SPREE and the council activities and stuff like that. Okay, so the bottomline is – there’s been some serious amount of money spent to purchase some fancy computer that we aren’t exactly sure about.
  10. Snooker park! :D We know it sounds unbelievable but we had to reach a round figure, alright?
