NetWORKING----Slow and Half.

The internet and LAN in the hostels is now working.

But now our concern is about the efficiency.We want fully loaded pages and high speeds.

The existing 8 mbps connection in the hostels is not sufficient (as you may have noticed).So,we talked to the Internet incharges about this matter and requested them to make a detailed report on the internet usage--The report will consist of current usage graphs which show that demand is far greater than the supply.

So,we are planning to upgrade our internet connection to a more-than-sufficient 32 mbps one.Once the report gets finalised, it will be sent to the audit section, followed by the director, for approval.


We can soon have a good efficient netWORKING!!

A small request though......

before this actually happens ( and we are sure it will take time) we have to make do with the current speeds itself.

We were told that keeping an Orkut or Facebook page open consumes a lot of bandwidth and that is why we are getting low speeds. the internet in charges told us that if we want speed then everyone should use the facility with some responsibility and close these pages when not in use.

Whenever you are done checking scraps, plz plzz plzzzzz sign out from these sites so that everyody gets decent speeds.

Also, many systems are still infected with viruses and these systems consume a lot of bandwidth. plz update your anti virus and clean your pc first.

Consider this a priority to checking orkut scraps or anything else for that matter. If we want faster net connectivity we only have to do something about it.
