Students council in NIT Warangal for the first time was formed in December 2006 by the order of the Government of India that says that every institution in India must have a student body representing the students of college.

The director is the chairman of the Council and the student representatives are elected from each class who inturn elect the President,Vice President,General Secretary and the Joint Secretaries at the begining of the academic year.
